This series of four small works inspired by my daily morning walks through Palm Springs with my sexy wife. What started as a simple routine coffee, conversation, and a walk before the desert heat fully commits to ruining everyone’s day has slowly turned into a kind of moving meditation through our neighborhood of Desert Lanai and Oasis Del Sol.

Along the way, I’ve become slightly obsessed with the unexpected beauty of the desert: stubborn flowers, dramatic light, and plants that somehow thrive in conditions that feel personally designed to discourage life. These walks have become less about exercise and more about noticing things I probably would have missed if I were just trying to get back inside to air conditioning.

The series captures that feeling of early morning calm mixed with desert absurdity the idea that something so dry and unforgiving can still produce moments of softness, color, and surprise. It’s less about documenting exact locations and more about honoring the small, fleeting details that make the desert feel alive.

As a printmaker and painter, I’m always chasing color, texture, and the happy accidents that happen along the way. Desert Bloom reflects that process: imperfect, layered, and a little unpredictable kind of like the walks themselves, and honestly, kind of like life in general in these fucking crazy times we’re currently living through.
