corporis fabrica - artist proof

$1,700.00

print size: 33 × 41 x 1.5 inches

color: 4 color serigraph - protected with a krylon clear matte finish

material: 1/2 x 33-in x 41-in white particle board panel

tools: speedball - screen printing ink, sharpie permanent marker, blue painters tape and masking tape

date created: may 2025

note:
The beauty of hand-pulled screen printing comes from its imperfections and variations, making each print a one-of-a-kind creation.

Anytime I start a new screen print, I lay my paper or wood onto a hard, flat surface, usually a trusty particle board panel to keep the pulls smooth and the imperfections minimal. That surface is my secret weapon for getting ink through the screen without the print looking like it survived being pulled over broken glass.

When I was mass producing serigraphs for my Corporis Fabrica works on paper series (shown at Art and Conversations in Blaye, France, June 2025), I got a little too “in the zone.” While cranking out 12 versions on delicate Japanese rice paper, I forgot to line one sheet up with the blue painter’s tape markings - templates… and printed directly onto the particle board panel instead.

My dad always said, “Nothing happens by accident,” and, well, apparently he was right. What began as a fuck up turned into an unexpected piece I decided to embrace.

The result? A happy accident elevated to art. Andy Warhol would definitely raise a glass to that.
