Every morning, I start my day with a 1.5-mile walk around my neighborhood in Palm Springs, California. Somewhere along the way, I developed a slight obsession with photographing the palm trees that seem to appear around every corner. After going down an unexpected rabbit hole of palm tree research (because that's a perfectly normal thing to do), I discovered the incredible Silver Bismarck Palm. Its striking silver blue fronds immediately caught my attention and became the inspiration for these serigraphs.

The discovery also brought back memories of my high school and college years in the Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia skate, punk, and ska scene. While I was more of a skate punk, many of my friends were into ska, introducing me to bands like The Specials, The Beat, The English Beat, and The Selecter, along with the bold visual style of 2 Tone Records. I incorporated the natural wood grain of the plywood into the composition to echo the movement and graphic energy of that era, while the color palette pays tribute to those iconic designs.

It's funny how inspiration works. One minute you're out for a morning walk taking way too many photos of palm trees, and the next you're reconnecting with your youth through music, design, and printmaking. Sometimes the universe has a wonderful sense of humor and all it takes is one really good palm tree.

"Enjoy yourself, it's later than you think. The time goes by, and you don't have time to blink."
